Wild-Harvested Coltsfoot Blooms

Tussilago farfara

Our wild-harvested coltsfoot blooms are gathered for their long history in traditional European and folk herbalism. Coltsfoot gets its botanical name Tussilago from its centuries-old association with traditional seasonal and respiratory herbal preparations.

Traditionally Used In:
• Seasonal herbal preparations
• Traditional throat-comfort blends
• Respiratory wellness formulas
• Folk herbal preparations
• Herbal infusions and botanical blends

Flavor:
Mildly bitter, earthy and slightly floral.

Traditional Pairings:
Coltsfoot has traditionally been paired with mullein, horehound, marshmallow root, peppermint, thyme, elderflower and licorice root.

Important Tea & Internal-Use Information:
Coltsfoot naturally contains compounds called pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs). Because PA exposure can be harmful to the liver, we do not recommend routine internal use or provide standard tea-serving directions unless the product has been specifically verified as PA-free or appropriately PA-tested.

If you intend to use coltsfoot internally, consult a qualified herbal or healthcare professional before use.

Wild-Harvested:
These are wild-harvested coltsfoot blooms rather than cultivated flowers. As with all wild botanicals, proper plant identification and responsible harvesting are especially important.

Caution:
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for children, or for individuals with liver concerns. Avoid prolonged or frequent internal use. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before internal use, particularly if you take medications.

Botanical Note:
Coltsfoot has a fascinating place in traditional herbal history, but it is an herb where modern safety knowledge is especially important alongside traditional use.
