Fenugreek seeds can be a fantastic addition to teas and tinctures, offering both health benefits and a unique flavor profile. Here’s how you can use them:

In Teas:

  1. Whole Seed Tea: Lightly crush fenugreek seeds to release their flavor. Steep about one teaspoon of the crushed seeds in a cup of boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes. This will create a slightly bitter and aromatic tea. You can sweeten it with honey or mix it with other herbs to enhance the flavor.
  2. Powdered Fenugreek Tea: If you have fenugreek in powder form, you can use about a half teaspoon per cup of hot water. This method makes for a stronger flavor and quicker preparation.

In Tinctures:

  1. Alcohol Extraction: To make a fenugreek tincture, fill a jar about one-quarter full with dried fenugreek seeds, then cover with a high-proof alcohol like vodka or brandy, ensuring the seeds are completely submerged. Seal the jar and let it sit in a cool, dark place for about 4 to 6 weeks, shaking it daily. Strain the seeds out, and your tincture is ready to use.
  2. Glycerin Tincture: If you prefer a non-alcoholic tincture, use vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol following the same process. This is a sweeter alternative and is good for those avoiding alcohol.

Both fenugreek tea and tincture can be used to support digestion, soothe skin irritation, and may help maintain blood sugar levels within a normal range. Always start with small amounts to see how your body reacts, as the strong flavor and potent properties of fenugreek might not be suitable for everyone.
